The Law on Road Traffic Safety, which came into effect in 2009, introduced the system of penalty points. According to this system, the traffic police is in charge of keeping track of traffic offences and penalty points, and of the revocation of driving licenses. As of June 2012, the Road Traffic Safety Agency has been organizing seminars for the advancement of knowledge, as well as tests, for drivers whose license has been revoked. This paper shows the results of the research conducted during the execution of a project for the Road Traffic Safety Agency and whose aim was to analyze the existing driver improvement programs in certain developed countries as well as in Serbia, to recognize the best practices, and to analyze the possibilities for the advancement of the driver improvement program in Serbia. On the basis of the research, measures for the advancement of driver improvement program in Serbia were proposed.
