Abstract: The monitoring of road safety performance indicators was established in the autumn of 2013 when the Road Traffic Safety Agency together with the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering implemented a study that defined the methodology for measuring the road safety performance indicators in the Republic of Serbia. Subsequently, from year to year, twice a year, in the spring and autumn, measurements of key indicators of traffic safety were performed, with each new indicator being always added from year to year. These road safety performance indicators are used by stakeholders to plan activities, actions and measures to improve road safety. An example is the National Traffic Safety Strategy for the Republic of Serbia, which contains goals in terms of road safety performance safety indicators, followed by an example of local communities, which plan their action plans and funds according to the values of the measured road safety performance indicators. After five years of measurement of traffic safety indicators, there was a need to reconsider the established methodology and to redefine the key road safety performance indicators for the Republic of Serbia. Bearing this in mind in this paper, the revision of the methodology for measuring the road safety performance indicators is presented, that is, the key changes are presented in relation to the methodology defined in 2013.
